Our first annual festival was a magical event that spanned over three days in Los Angeles' exciting downtown Arts District. TRIBE Project sponsored an art exhibit along side the film festival with work from the Boom Chamber and Brain Pool for Artists.
The opening night was an exciting red carpet event at LA's Art District Art Center, ArtShare LA. The event began with live performances from Aztec Dances and JD WolfRobe, followed by a curated series of short films from North America. North American films featured films from The Cultural Conservancy (Braiding The Sacred, Seeds of our Ancestors) and Five Dollars (directed by Ty Coughenour).
On the second day of the festival, we showcased over 20 films from 17 different counties.
The festival ended with a panel discussions that explored the intersection of Indigenous identity and the world of entertainment: Actors as Activists, Indigenous in The Industry, and Cultural Creativity and Composition. Our distinguished panelists included Brittany Brown, Courage The Actor, Gladys Nyoth, Virgil Mayor Apostol, Ty Coughenour, Venk Modur and Parvesh Cheena with our amazing moderator Nancy Moricette.
